Much of Scotland’s economy is rural, and lurking in that economy - waiting to be awakened - is something I think of as the nature prosperity pump. This is no ordinary pump. It has the ability to dismantle three existential threats to the Scottish economy: climate meltdown, biodiversity collapse, and the national housing emergency, a.k.a the national dearth of affordable housing.
